FRANKLY,

All the words I dont say & all the ones I do.

THE VIETNAMESE HUSTLE

We may not realize how great the effect other cultures have on us, be it a culture of majority or of minority, and in return the effect we have on them. Through this case study, I have learned a great deal not only about the Vietnamese culture but about how vast the world’s set of cultures are and about the importance of understanding globalization’s place in the world today.

I chose to go about and explore the Vietnamese culture through restaurants here in Manila. Many of us Filipinos are often exposed to the very common Asian cultures found here such as Chinese, Japanese, Indian or Thai but hardly do I hear anything about the Vietnamese culture. Purely based on opinion and from what I’ve heard in the past, Vietnamese food, much like their culture is fresh, clean & deeply rooted to the earth. In a modern age like this everything has been turned into fast food. We have found a way to mass-produce the loaves of fish and bread to feed plenty but quality is sold separately. I wanted a change in scenery, a blast for my taste buds but still light on the liver, heavy on the stomach and good for the heart, medically speaking. I chose to seek the Vietnamese culture because I believe I can find what it is I’m looking for, discover some great new sites around Manila and have a jolly good time.
